The Municipal Corporation of Amravati has become one of Maharashtra’s first civic bodies to deploy blockchain technology at scale, marking a major step toward transparent and tamper-proof governance.
Key public documents — such as construction approvals, fire safety certificates, and trade licenses — will now be stored on blockchain, ensuring they cannot be altered after issuance.
Commissioner Saumya Sharma Chandak said the initiative embeds “digital responsibility and citizen-centricity” into governance, reducing fraud while accelerating service delivery. Each certificate will feature a QR code that residents can scan to instantly validate authenticity, eliminating the need for manual verification and counter visits.
By making government records immutable and easily verifiable, Amravati aims to curb document manipulation and streamline administrative processes. The rollout reflects a broader push across Indian cities to use blockchain for secure public infrastructure as digital governance expands beyond major metros.
