Binance, TRM Labs Join Fight Against ISIS
Recently, a number of people associated with the ISIS terrorist activity were successfully identified thanks in large part to the work of the cryptocurrency exchange Binance and the intelligence agency TRM Labs.
Their activities assisted Tajik law enforcement in apprehending a number of residents of Khorasan Province, including Shamil Hukumatov, a senior Islamic State member.
This information reaffirms the two businesses’ commitment to cooperating with local governments all across the world to fight crime in the blockchain industry.
Crypto exchange Binance and TRM Labs collaborated with Tajikistan’s financial monitoring department to arrest individuals linked to ISIS. Binance’s daily scan on threats in the open source world led to the identification of a Telegram group used by terrorists. Binance analysts identified a crypto wallet being used by ISIS to receive donations. The arrests were based on consulting KYC information of suspicious clients and tracking their linked IP addresses.
