Lummis Urges For Clear Crypto Regulations

Senator Cynthia Lummis emphasized the importance of a court ruling by Judge Analisa Torres, which declared Ripple’s XRP token not a security for digital asset exchanges. Lummis emphasized the need for a comprehensive regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies, emphasizing the urgent need for Congress to address this issue.

Lummis emphasized the significance of the court verdict and its implications for cryptocurrency regulation in her statement. She noted that the decision emphasizes the urgent need for Congress to develop a comprehensive crypto framework that prioritizes consumer protection.

Lummis emphasized the need of upholding the Howey test — the legal criterion used to determine whether an investment qualifies as a security. She notably mentioned the Lummis-Gillibrand bill, also known as the Lummis-Gillibrand Act, a legislative effort co-introduced by herself and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

The bill’s goal is to offer clarity and establish regulatory parameters for digital assets that are consistent with the interpretation of the Howey test.
