Algorand CEO Debunks Nike Partnership
Staci Warden, CEO of the Algorand Foundation, tweeted a cryptic message on January 17: “NIKE.” Several people misinterpreted the tweet as a reference to the sports and fashion conglomerate Nike.
This sparked speculation about a possible collaboration with the apparel behemoth, with several people asking what the tweet could mean. “Nike is going to start using Algo for shoes now,” a user speculated.
The CEO of Algorand responded in the negative. He went on to say, “It is not a collaboration. Just a fun marketing fact.” While speculation about what the tweet meant continued, the Algorand CEO reiterated today that it was not a collaboration with the apparel giant.
“As I told MJ, this is not a partnership. I was just getting ready to make a marketing announcement. Another is scheduled for today. I was just having fun with it because I’m so excited about this new job “The CEO of Algorand wrote.
Nike has been one of the biggest fashion-world players in Web3.
It has also formed notable partnerships in the cryptocurrency space. Nike will launch a new Web3 platform called “Swoosh” in November 2022, with Polygon-based NFT products.
Nike’s NFT apparel will be minted on Polygon, an Ethereum sidechain network, as a result of the partnership.
