Kim Kardashian won a lawsuit against her and other celebrities for endorsing cryptocurrency platform EthereumMax (EMAX) on December 6th, after a judge dismissed the case due to insufficient allegations.
The plaintiffs claimed in January that they suffered damages as a result of celebrity endorsements from celebrities such as Kardashian, retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., and National Basketball Association Hall of Famer Paul Pierce.
“The court acknowledges that this action raises legitimate concerns over celebrities’ ability to readily persuade millions of undiscerning followers to buy snake oil with unprecedented ease and reach,” Judge Michael Fitzgerald of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, said in a document of the proceeding.
Nonetheless, the judge dismissed the motion, as expected, because the complainant failed to provide sufficient facts.
Kardashian was fined $1.26 million by the Securities and Exchange Commission for failing to disclose a $250,000 payment for promoting EthereumMax.
