Open Standard has officially launched its Open USD (OUSD) stablecoin across Ethereum, Solana, Base and Tempo, adding another dollar-pegged asset to the growing stablecoin market. Backed by a group of major financial and technology companies, OUSD is designed for payments, settlement, foreign exchange and institutional trading.

The stablecoin can be accessed through platforms including Coinbase, Kraken and Uniswap, while Bridge handles issuance. Its reserves are held with BlackRock, Lead Bank and BNY, with monthly reserve attestations planned. Open Standard says businesses can mint and redeem OUSD at a 1:1 rate against the US dollar.

Stablecoins should be better money. Today, they fall short. OUSD is built to change that.
We’re off to a great start. The network will get stronger every day

The launch marks the transition of OUSD from a proposed stablecoin into a live asset. Open Standard first announced the project in June, with more than 140 businesses participating at the time. The company has since said its network has expanded to more than 200 financial institutions, fintech companies, banks and other businesses.
OUSD has been launched natively on Ethereum, Solana, Base and Tempo. It is also available through major crypto platforms, including Coinbase, Kraken and Uniswap. Open Standard said its infrastructure allows supported businesses to mint and redeem the stablecoin at a 1:1 conversion rate with the US dollar, without a fee.
Bridge, the stablecoin infrastructure company acquired by Stripe, is responsible for issuing OUSD. The stablecoin’s reserves are held by BlackRock, Lead Bank and BNY. Open Standard plans to publish monthly attestations of those reserves, although the launch announcement did not provide a detailed breakdown of the reserve composition or disclose the initial amount of OUSD issued.
The company is targeting several business applications, including cross-border payments, settlement, foreign exchange, institutional trading, wallets and card infrastructure. Open Standard said businesses can initially access OUSD through BVNK, Stripe and the Visa Stablecoin Platform. Its Coinbase integration is scheduled to begin on October 1.
The idea is to make it easier for businesses to use the stablecoin without having to build separate systems for issuing, transferring and redeeming digital dollars. How much activity these integrations generate, however, will depend on actual business adoption.
OUSD also follows a partnership announced in August between Dunamu, the operator of South Korean crypto exchange Upbit, and Visa. The companies said they would explore stablecoin payments, international remittances and financial services linked to artificial intelligence, with OUSD among the potential assets for future applications. That partnership did not establish a live OUSD payment product at the time.
Open Standard has also introduced a revenue-sharing model for its partners. Businesses involved in distributing OUSD or generating activity through their platforms may receive rewards linked to the stablecoin’s supply and usage. Some partners may also receive equity in the company, according to Open Standard.
The project enters a market already dominated by established stablecoins such as Tether’s USDT and Circle’s USDC. It also faces competition from newer dollar-pegged assets, including Ripple’s RLUSD.
The involvement of companies such as Coinbase, BlackRock, Stripe, Mastercard and Visa gives OUSD access to a broad financial and payments network. However, those partnerships alone do not indicate how widely the stablecoin will ultimately be used.
The market will be watching OUSD’s circulating supply, transaction volumes, reserve attestations and actual business usage as the rollout continues. For now, the stablecoin has moved from the development stage to a live product across four blockchain networks, giving businesses another option for moving dollar-denominated value on-chain.
