Anchorage Digital Expands Institutional Access To Frgmnt Stablecoin

Anchorage Digital is expanding institutional access to stablecoin infrastructure through a partnership with stablecoin protocol Frgmnt. The integration will give Anchorage’s institutional clients access to Frgmnt’s fUSD and sfUSD tokens through Anchorage’s custody platform.

Under the arrangement, institutions can hold, mint, redeem, stake and unstake fUSD without having to establish a separate custody arrangement. This is designed to simplify access for institutional users that want to interact with the stablecoin ecosystem while keeping their assets within an established custody infrastructure.

Frgmnt operates on Base and issues fUSD against USDC. The reserves are deployed across onchain lending markets, while users can stake fUSD to receive sfUSD and earn rewards generated through the protocol’s strategies.

The partnership highlights the growing effort to bring yield-generating stablecoin products into institutional digital-asset infrastructure. Institutional investors and financial firms are increasingly looking beyond simply holding digital assets and are exploring ways to generate returns from blockchain-based financial products.

However, Frgmnt remains at an early stage. The protocol currently has around $100,000 in total value locked and is operating under a capped, invite-only beta. Public access and a higher deposit cap are planned for September 15.

The partnership with Anchorage could nevertheless provide Frgmnt with an important distribution channel. Anchorage Digital is known for serving institutional clients, and integrating fUSD into its custody platform could make it easier for eligible institutions to experiment with the product.

For Anchorage, the move adds another stablecoin-related offering to its institutional infrastructure as demand for digital-dollar products continues to grow.

Stablecoins are increasingly being used for payments, trading, settlement and onchain financial applications. Products that combine stablecoin exposure with potential yield could become another area of institutional interest, although their risks, liquidity and underlying strategies will remain important considerations.

The next stage will be closely watched as Frgmnt prepares to expand beyond its limited beta. The September 15 public-access plan could provide a clearer indication of whether the protocol can attract significantly more capital and users.
