Coinbase has introduced a new ‘Launches’ tab that allows users to discover and trade newly launched Base and Solana tokens as soon as they become available on-chain. The feature is part of Coinbase’s decentralized exchange (DEX) experience and is designed to give users earlier access to eligible crypto assets without waiting for traditional exchange listings. The company says the initiative supports its broader strategy of expanding on-chain trading while strengthening the Base ecosystem.
Announcing the feature on X, Coinbase said users can now find and trade eligible Base and Solana tokens immediately after they go live on public blockchains.
The Launches category concentrates on assets that are already accessible on-chain, in contrast to centralized exchange listings, which sometimes involve approval periods prior to trade starting.
Customers must first set up a self-custody wallet in order to utilize the function, which gives them direct management over their digital assets rather than depending on Coinbase to retain them. The company also clarified that decentralized trading is operated through Coinbase Bermuda Technologies Ltd. and is subject to local regulations and availability in different jurisdictions.
Coinbase emphasised that the new service should not be viewed as investment advice or an endorsement of any particular token. Users should also be aware that trading fees may apply depending on the transaction.
The Launches tab forms part of Coinbase’s wider effort to strengthen its on-chain ecosystem. The exchange introduced ETH-INR and SOL-INR trading pairings last month, expanding its services in India and facilitating local consumers’ access to major cryptocurrencies.
Brian Armstrong, the CEO of Coinbase, recently presented the company’s “AiFi” approach, contending that blockchain technology and artificial intelligence should complement one another rather than compete. The startup wants to create a financial infrastructure that would allow AI bots to communicate and use blockchain networks to make payments.
As competition intensifies among crypto exchanges, faster access to newly issued tokens has become an important differentiator. By reducing the gap between token creation and trading availability, Coinbase hopes to attract more users while continuing to grow activity on its Base blockchain ecosystem and decentralized trading platform.
