The XRP Ledger (XRPL) is preparing for another major software upgrade, with the upcoming xrpld v3.3.0 release expected to introduce five proposed amendments aimed at expanding the network’s capabilities for tokenized assets.
Jazzi Copper, Head of Product at RippleX, revealed details of the proposed changes in a post on X. She said the new release is expected to go live next week, although the amendments will only take effect after receiving approval from XRPL validators.
XRPL has already proven it can support tokenized assets at scale. Now it’s time to put these assets to use: global transfers, trading, collateralizing, and settling.

“XRPL has already proven it can support tokenized assets at scale. Now it’s time to put these assets to use: global transfers, trading, collateralizing, and settling,” Copper wrote.
According to Copper, the five amendments included in the release could move the blockchain closer to becoming a broader infrastructure for tokenized assets and financial applications.
The amendment uses zero-knowledge proofs and elliptic-curve encryption to add privacy protections for Multi-Purpose Tokens, or MPTs.
Token issuers and holders would be able to maintain the confidentiality of some information, such as token balances and transfer amounts, thanks to the technology. However, transaction information could still be checked when needed, perhaps providing a compromise between privacy and legal or compliance obligations.
The proposed changes highlight XRPL’s growing focus on tokenization and its potential use in financial markets. However, the amendments will not automatically become active with the software release. XRPL validators must approve them through the network’s governance process.
The v3.3.0 upgrade therefore marks another step in XRPL’s development, with the final impact depending on validator support and the adoption of the proposed amendments.
