Tether has minted $1 billion more USDT on the Tron blockchain, pushing the network’s total USDT supply to 82.69 billion—over 50% of the stablecoin’s 164.5 billion total in circulation. With this, Tron has surpassed Ethereum’s 79.8 billion USDT, making it the leading blockchain for USDT.

The transaction, confirmed by Arkham Intelligence, involved zero gas fees, with all newly minted USDT remaining in reserve for now. So far in 2025, Tether has minted 23 billion USDT on Tron, including 8 billion since June 1 alone.

Tron’s founder Justin Sun said the network’s low fees, speed, and accessibility have made it the stablecoin platform of choice worldwide. Tron now processes over 60 million transactions per week, ranking it just behind Solana and Base in activity. The network’s growing dominance highlights its rising importance in global stablecoin utility and payments infrastructure.
