Chairman and CEO Matt Cole announced the latest purchase on August 17. The transaction was recorded in the company’s latest securities filing, which also provided updates on Strive’s cash holdings, preferred securities and shares outstanding.
The latest purchase may look modest compared with some of Strive’s earlier acquisitions, but it continues a clear pattern. Before the latest transaction, the company held 20,167 BTC. It had reached that level after buying 147 BTC on August 7 for about $9.5 million, at an average price of $64,812 per Bitcoin.
Strive has been buying Bitcoin regularly over the past several weeks. On July 31, it purchased 20 BTC for $1.27 million. A week earlier, on July 24, it bought 79 BTC for $5.19 million, taking its holdings to 20,000 BTC. It also acquired 21 BTC on July 17, 18 BTC on July 10 and another 18 BTC on July 2.

According to Strive’s treasury information, the company has accumulated its 20,246 BTC through 28 transactions. The holdings are currently valued at around $1.29 billion. However, the company’s average cost basis is significantly higher than the prevailing Bitcoin price.
Strive’s overall average purchase price stands at about $94,355 per Bitcoin. With Bitcoin trading at around $63,538 on August 17, the market price was roughly 32.6% below Strive’s average cost basis. This means the company is currently carrying a substantial unrealised loss on its Bitcoin treasury, although those losses remain on paper as long as the coins are not sold.

The latest purchase also comes during a period of relatively subdued Bitcoin price movement. Bitcoin was up about 0.8% over 24 hours on August 17, trading around $63,538. Over the previous seven days, however, the cryptocurrency had fallen about 1.6%.
Strive’s continued buying suggests that the company is taking a long-term view of Bitcoin rather than trying to predict short-term price movements. Regular purchases allow it to build its holdings over time, even when the market is below its previous highs.
The company’s strategy also puts it among a growing group of publicly traded firms using Bitcoin as a treasury asset. These companies are effectively making a long-term bet that Bitcoin will appreciate enough to justify the volatility and the gap that can sometimes develop between their purchase prices and the market price.
For Strive, the next milestone may be less about a single purchase and more about how quickly it can continue expanding its Bitcoin treasury. With 20,246 BTC already on its balance sheet and 325 BTC added in the past 30 days, the company is showing that its accumulation strategy remains active despite the current market weakness.
