Lido Gets Ready To Roll Back Hoodi Changes
Lido Finance, one of the principal decentralized liquid staking protocols on Ethereum, is making a vote to roll back fork-specific contract changes on the Hoodi testnet following the postponement of Ethereum’s scheduled Glamsterdam upgrade. The move is proposed to keep the test environment operating smoothly while developers reconsider the upgrade timeline and its technical implications.
Lido Glamsterdam on Hoodie Update
On yesterday’s ACDE #248 call, Ethereum core developers made the decision to postpone the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi testnet to allow for further investigation into how EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 interacts with mainnet contracts:

This testnet upgrade delay does not affect the mainnet Lido protocol, and no action is required from stETH or wstETH holders.
Since Lido’s Hoodi contracts had already been upgraded ahead of the previously scheduled October 26 activation, contributors are currently preparing a Hoodi vote to roll back the fork-specific changes and keep the testnet operational until a new upgrade date is set.
Lido DAO contributors are proactively coordinating the rollback with Lido Node Operators and the broader Ethereum ecosystem. If you operate a Hoodi node or validator, please make sure to check both your Execution and Consensus Layer clients for instructions reflecting the postponed activation before October 26.
Lido contributors have been screening EIP-8037 against Lido contracts since June and have found no breaking impact on the protocol’s core contracts so far, which has also been independently confirmed by ChainSecurity.
The review continues alongside the Ethereum core devs’ broader investigation.

In an October 23 post on X, Lido elucidated that the delay would not affect its mainnet protocol. The platform also reassured holders of stETH and wstETH that they did not need to take any action in response to the postponement. This difference is important because the proposed rollback concerns the testnet rather than the live protocol used by existing holders.
Why Ethereum Hit Pause On Glamsterdam
The delay followed discussions during the All Core Developers Execution meeting #248. During the meeting, Ethereum developers agreed to examine how EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 could interact with existing mainnet contracts. The review is envisioned to help developers understand potential compatibility issues before continuing with the upgrade.
Lido had already upgraded its Hoodi contracts ahead of the previously scheduled October 26 activation. However, the postponement means those fork-specific changes need to be re-examined while the Ethereum development community works towards a revised implementation schedule.
Rollback Prep Begins While The Timeline Stays Open
Contributors are now preparing the rollback process, which would inverse the relevant testnet changes and help maintain a functional testing environment during the delay. Testnets allow developers to assess protocol changes and identify possible issues before introducing upgrades to a live blockchain.
The revised timeline for Glamsterdam has not been confirmed in the supplied report. For Lido users, the immediate message remains that the delay does not require action from stETH or wstETH holders. Meanwhile, developers can continue reviewing the technical implications of the proposed changes before establishing the next steps for Ethereum’s upgrade.
