The FBI has dismantled a sprawling international cryptocurrency fraud network responsible for defrauding billions of dollars from victims worldwide.
The criminal operation spanned Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the UAE, targeting individuals through investment schemes and romance scams while allegedly forcing workers at scam compounds.
During the investigation, authorities seized over 127,000 Bitcoin connected to Cambodian businessman Chen Zhi, CEO of Prince Holding Group.
Officials described the confiscation as the largest cryptocurrency forfeiture in U.S. history. Investigators report that the network generated billions using sophisticated online schemes targeting American citizens and victims globally.
The operation highlights the persistent threat of cryptocurrency-related fraud and the scale at which criminal networks can exploit digital finance platforms.
Law enforcement officials emphasized the importance of coordinated international action to disrupt illicit operations, recover stolen funds, and prevent future criminal activity in the rapidly evolving digital asset ecosystem.
