Ethereum and solana continue to attract staking activity in the third quarter, according to a report published on October 20 by crypto asset manager Bitwise. According to the report, approximately 35.9% of Ethereum’s total supply was staked in the last quarter and 69% for solana.
The report also noted increased activity around Hyperliquid and Robinhood’s blockchain services, highlighting how crypto networks continue to evolve beyond simple token transfers.

Ethereum had approximately 43.8 million ETH staked at the end of the quarter, compared with 33% of the supply at the end of the previous quarter. The network also had a net inflow of nearly two million ETH during the period.
Bitwise: Ethereum Staking Hits Record 43.8M ETH, Accounting for 35.9% of Total Supply, Up for Sixth Consecutive Quarter
Bitwise’s Q4 2026 Staking Report shows that Ethereum staking reached an all-time high of 43.8 million ETH, representing 35.9% of total supply and marking six consecutive quarters of growth. Ethereum’s staking yield declined from 2.81% to 2.63%. Solana’s staking ratio stood at 69%, with yields falling from 6.38% to 5.99%, while NEAR’s staking ratio reached 46%, with a yield of 4.87%. The report also highlighted that tokenized stock trading volume on Solana rose 45% to $6.93 billion, while daily tokenized stock trading volume on Robinhood Chain increased 22-fold during the quarter.

However, the gross staking yield declined to 2.63% from 2.81%. Ethereum’s network revenue was approximately $40.6 million, its lowest level since early 2025, while the average transaction cost declined to around 45 cents.
The number of Ethereum validators also declined from nearly 1.1 million to about 881,000. The report attributed this primarily to changes which allow validators to manage larger amounts of ETH, rather than a simple fall in staking interest.
Solana had approximately 440.5 million SOL staked, worth 69% of its supply. Its gross staking yield slipped to 5.99% from 6.38%, while at the same time the number of non-voting transactions rose 45% from the previous quarter. Revenue from applications on solana rose 54% to about $396 million.

Bitwise also noted increased activity at Hyperliquid, where fee and reserve income rose 25% to $228.1 million. Trading volume reached $730.1 billion, with contracts related to non-crypto markets representing an increasing share. Robinhood’s blockchain services also had more than $51 million in gross fees during their first quarter, while tokenized stock tokens rose to 193.
The report noted continued growth across crypto networks, but also highlighted the risks, including the potential for fluctuations in staking returns and the impact of technical outages or market volatility on tokenized assets. Thus, investors should always note that staking rewards are never a given.
