Ethereum Ready For Shanghai Upgrade
According to an official announcement, the core developers of the Ethereum blockchain have scheduled the launch of the Shanghai-Capella upgrade on the Sepolia test network for February 28 at epoch 56832.
Shanghai-Capella, also known as Shapella, is a network upgrade that aims to enable ETH withdrawals from network validators, a feature that was not enabled during the network’s transition to proof-of-stake consensus, known as The Merge.
Changes to the execution layer and the consensus layer are included in the upgrade. Shanghai will upgrade Ethereum’s execution layer, while Capella will upgrade the blockchain’s consensus layer.
In order to complete the final upgrade by March, developers have planned multiple phases of public testing.
