  • The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) granted Blockchain.com a VASP license so that company may provide regulated cryptocurrency custody services.
  • The company can now offer cryptocurrency-to-fiat and crypto-to-crypto exchange services in the Cayman Islands thanks to the new license.
  • After receiving conditional clearance from CIMA in December 2025, Blockchain.com was granted the license on July 22, 2026.

After obtaining a final Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) custody license from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) on July 22, 2026, Blockchain.com transitioned from conditional permission to full regulated status in the Cayman Islands.

The conditional approval CIMA awarded in December 2025 is replaced by the license, which was given to Blockchain.com’s Cayman subsidiary. Before the final sign-off, Blockchain.com claimed to have met all of the regulator’s requirements.

The authorization expands the company’s capacity to offer institutional and retail goods from the jurisdiction by covering regulated custody services as well as crypto-to-fiat and crypto-to-crypto exchange services. Since May 2022, the company has been conducting business in the Caymans under a VASP registration.

A Bigger Role In The Cayman Islands

Blockchain.com got a license, and now it can provide safekeeping services for digital assets. With the new license, Blockchain.com may now provide regulated cryptocurrency custody services in the Cayman Islands, strengthening its position in one of the major financial hubs of the globe.

It can also let people exchange crypto for money or other cryptocurrencies, which is allowed by the local government.

This approval makes customers and institutions feel better because they know Blockchain.com is following the rules. As more people start buying assets, it is good to have companies that are licensed and follow the rules.

The Cayman Islands is a place for digital asset companies because it has clear rules and it likes new ideas. By getting this license Blockchain.com is stronger in this area. It is also following the local laws.

Part Of A Broader Global Strategy

The permission from the Cayman Islands comes after Blockchain.com’s recent regulatory successes. The business was able to extend its regulated services throughout the European Union earlier this year after obtaining a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license in Europe.

Additionally, it obtained another significant regulatory license in one of the biggest financial markets in the world by completing its registration with the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

These achievements demonstrate Blockchain.com’s commitment to creating a company that complies with established legal and regulatory frameworks in several jurisdictions.

Company Focuses On Trust & Compliance

Blockchain.com’s co-CEO, Lane Kasselman, stated that the company thinks robust regulation is critical to the long-term development of the digital asset sector.

Kasselman claims that the most recent approval enhances Blockchain.com’s capacity to provide customer service and facilitates its growth into new areas. He continued by saying that the company’s long-term plan still heavily relies on regulatory advancements.
