El Salvador is set to host “Bitcoin Histórico,” the world’s first government-backed Bitcoin conference, on November 12–13, 2025, in San Salvador’s historic center. The event is being organized by the National Bitcoin Office and aims to combine finance, culture, and technology into a citywide festival experience.
Major landmarks including the National Palace, National Library (BINAES), and National Theater will be transformed into conference venues, while speeches and sessions will be streamed live on giant LED screens across public squares. Organizers say the event is designed to connect Bitcoin adoption with El Salvador’s national identity and economic transformation.
El Salvador became the first country in the world to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender in 2021 under President Nayib Bukele. Since then, the country has continued expanding its Bitcoin initiatives, including state Bitcoin reserves and geothermal-powered Bitcoin mining projects.
