Holders of the $TRUMP cryptocurrency will soon get another opportunity to meet U.S. President Donald Trump at a special event in Florida. The company behind the token has announced a “gala luncheon” scheduled for April 25 at the Mar-a-Lago estate.
According to the announcement, the event will invite 297 of the token’s largest holders, with 29 receiving an additional VIP tour of the private club. The gathering follows a similar dinner held last year, where the top 220 token holders were invited to meet the president.
The news briefly pushed the price of the $TRUMP token higher before it quickly settled back. The token is currently trading around $2.98, still far below its previous peak of more than $46. It is also significantly lower than the roughly $13 level where it traded during the announcement of last year’s dinner event.
The project has been criticised by some lawmakers in the past. Critics have pointed out that Trump could personally benefit from a cryptocurrency linked to his name.
The token’s website maintains that the project is not connected to any political campaign or government office. Organisers also clarified that the event will not include private meetings or fundraising activities involving the president.
