The United States has imposed new sanctions on Iran’s Interior Minister Esfandiar Momeni, several senior security officials, businessman Babak Zanjani and two UK-registered crypto exchanges.
The U.S. Treasury said the sanctioned platforms processed funds linked to Iran’s security forces and activities involving money laundering and human rights abuses.
Officials said the measures aim to block illicit financial flows and prevent misuse of the global financial system, including crypto networks.
The move highlights Washington’s growing focus on crypto compliance, cross-border enforcement and the use of digital assets in sanctions evasion.
