Former US President, Donald Trump, has yet again courted controversy after his recently released NFTs invited accusations of copyright violations.

Trump, no doubt, a popular US leader, who is aiming to be taken seriously as a 2024 contender to White House, got heavily mocked recently when, instead of making a serious announcement about his political plans, he announced the release of his NFTs, some of them showing him as a cowboy, an astronaut, and even as a fighter pilot!

Despite being poked and mocked, all of Trump’s 45,000 NFTs priced at a whopping at $99 each, sold out!

Trump’s digital trading cards, which are minted on Ethereum scaling network Polygon, peaked on December 17 with over $3.5 million worth of trading volume. Sales price rose even higher the next day however on 19 December day-over-day trading dropped 57%.

Despite widespread mockery and criticism of the project even from some of Trump’s own

Supporters, the project sold out within 24 hours and fueled secondary market demand. Since then, the project has racked up over $8.7 million worth of secondary trades.

In each collectible, Trump wears a different costume linked to rarity elements that allow users to enter sweepstakes to win prizes like a zoom call with the President or a cocktail hour at Mar-a-Lago or hand-signed memorabilia. It also guaranteed those who bought 45 NFTs a ticket to a gala dinner with Trump in South Florida.

As per OKHotshot @NFTherder Tweet, Donald Trump himself minted a thousand of his own

NFTs to his vault wallet, keeping a giant portion of the rarest NFTs in his collection for

Himself.
