What Is Axie Infinity?

The world has already realized how crypto could serve as the next face of digital transformation in finance, and even as a savior in tough financial times. Philippines, for example, has already used a crypto-based game, Axie Infinity to save its deteriorating economy. As people lost their jobs due to the global pandemic, this play-to-earn game served as an alternative source of economy for many.

What is Axie Infinity?

Axie Infinity, created on the Ethereum blockchain, is a Pokemon-inspired play-to-earn metaverse game. It was created by Sky Mavis, a game studio based in Vietnam. It is built on the Ronin Network, an Ethereum-linked sidechain. The Axie homeland, Lunacia, is made up of 90,601 land plots. Players can gather, grow, breed, and battle digital creatures known as Axies.

Axies use the land as a home and a base of operations and can freely exchange these land plots, which are represented as nonfungible tokens. Players use the Lunacia SDK to design games and then place them on their Land. The additional players can enter the game by clicking on these NFTs on the map. It’s that simple!

Axie Infinity tokens

Axie Infinity Shards (AXS) and Smooth Love Potions (SLP) are the two tokens in the Axie Infinity ecosystem. The AXS coin is the network’s native money, which is used to reward players. Playing the game earns you SLP tokens as they are not sold directly to gamers by Axie Infinity.

Sky Mavis is constantly expanding and providing unique experiences for its gamers. Future upgrades will enable additional mechanisms and enable the users to create more interactive experiences.
