Tether Freeze 41 US Sanctioned Wallets
Tether, a stablecoin issuer, has froze 41 wallets under the control of individuals on the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control’s Specially Designated Nationals List. The move was described as “precautionary measures” and aligns with Tether’s commitment to maintaining high security standards and expanding its relationship with global law enforcement and regulators.
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that the freezes will strengthen the positive use of stablecoin technology and promote a safer ecosystem for all users. On-chain data shows that many of the frozen wallets used Tornado Cash within the last six months, and one of these wallets is linked to the Ronin Bridge attack by North Korean hacking group Lazarus Group.
