Amazon to Skill 2 mn People in GenAI by 2025
Amazon is launching an AI Ready initiative to provide free AI skills training to two million people by 2025. A recent study by Amazon Web Services (AWS) found that 73% of employers prioritize hiring AI-skilled talent, with three out of four reporting difficulty meeting these demands.
Employers anticipate a potential salary increase of up to 47% for workers upskilling in AI. AWS has announced eight free AI and generative AI courses open to anyone and aligned to in-demand jobs. Additionally, AWS is offering Udacity scholarships worth over $12 million to over 50,000 high school and university students from underserved communities globally.
AWS is also collaborating with Amazon Future Engineer and Code.org to introduce ‘Hour of Code Dance Party: AI Edition’, a virtual music video creation experience. AWS is contributing up to $8 million in cloud computing credits to Code.org to support this initiative during Computer Science Education Week.
The AI Ready program is part of AWS’s commitment to provide free cloud computing skills training to 29 million people by 2025, which has already trained over 21 million people.
