Coinbase Obtains Bermuda License
Coinbase said today on its blog that it has secured a licence from the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) and, according to a Fortune report citing “a person close to the company,” will establish a futures exchange there “as soon as next week.”
Just last month, the exchange was in talks with many of its institutional clients about launching a new foreign crypto-trading platform, as US regulators continue to send confusing signals to crypto firms.
On its blog, the exchange also stated that it is in discussions with the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FRSA), a regulator of the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), a crypto-friendly free economic zone on UAE territory, about the possibility of opening a regulated exchange there.
