Shanghai Inks Blueprint For Metaverse Technology

According to suggestions made at the ongoing Shanghai Two Sessions, Shanghai is accelerating the development of the metaverse and concentrating on creating new technology to increase industrial efficiency and consumption to support the economy.

Members of the Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference claim that the ethical implications of the new technology have also been heavily debated.

The first city in the country to create a long-term plan for the creation of metaverse applications—which link the digital and physical worlds with cutting-edge technology—is Shanghai. The city hopes to grow the metaverse sector, which is anticipated to generate $50 billion in revenue by 2025.

Rich data resources, a robust auto industry, eSports fans and teams, and other advantages make Shanghai a special place to develop metaverse technology, according to experts.

Sony PlayStation and IKEA, who this week opened a special eSports zone in a Shanghai IKEA outlet, claim that players today want a more immersive gaming experience.

The members of the Shanghai CPPCC are currently debating issues related to ethics and regulations.

The proposals said that in addition to paying close attention to the issue of virtual assets and avatar identification, moral, ethical, and legal regulations needed to be strengthened.

Technology used in the metaverse ought to be used to improve human life overall and avert national and international security crises.
