- Starknet introduced Shadow Accounts on October 13 to enhance privacy in DeFi using its STRK20 framework.
- Shadow Accounts provide identities, for specific apps making it harder to connect users main wallets with their DeFi actions.
- DeFi applications involve lending, borrowing, staking, trading providing liquidity, prediction markets and NFT marketplaces.
Starknet has introduced Shadow Accounts, a privacy feature that lets me interact with decentralized finance (DeFi) applications without publicly linking my activity to my primary crypto wallets.
Introducing: Shadow Accounts.
Shadow Accounts let you interact with public DeFi through a separate address you control, while the link to your main wallet stays confidential.
The first integration launches tomorrow. https://t.co/16o3j9AgQ0

Announced on October 13 2026 Shadow Accounts uses Starknet’s STRK20 framework to give applications pseudonymous addresses. I can maintain positions, trade assets and access DeFi services while keeping the connection to my wallet confidential.
As of October 14 2026 Starknet (STRK) is trading at about $0.082 according to Bybit market data. Starknet has fallen, about 5.3% in the 24 hours even though it had gained earlier this week.
A shadow account is a separate pseudo address on Starknet, funded from your shielded STRK20 balance.
The shadow account’s balance, transactions and app positions remain visible onchain. STRK20 protects the link between that account and your main wallet.

Starknet Shadow Accounts Limit Public Links To Users’ Main Wallets
The feature solves a problem in blockchain privacy. Public wallet addresses let people see what transactions, holdings and interactions you have across apps. Shadow Accounts make it possible for users to have identities, for each app.
But the transactions and balances linked to Shadow Accounts can still be seen on the blockchain. The feature protects the connection between wallets rather than making all blockchain activity completely private.
Developers can integrate Shadow Accounts into existing applications through the Starknet Wallet API without rebuilding their platforms. The wallet manages private state, proof generation and transaction submission, reducing the technical work required from application developers.
Starknet Adds Private Wallet Access For Lending, Trading & Liquidity
Supported use cases include lending, borrowing, staking, liquidity provision, trading, prediction markets and NFT marketplaces. Planned integrations include liquidity provision through Ekubo Protocol trading on SuperVega and lending services through Opus Money. Starknet’s documentation lists support through Wallet API v0.10.4, Starknet.js v10.8.0 and compatible privacy-enabled wallets.
The rollout could help users separate their strategies across applications while limiting the public visibility of their primary wallet connections. However, adoption will depend on how developers integrate the feature and users begin using it.
