  • NUVA launched HOME, a token offering eligible non-U.S. investors exposure to U.S. home equity lines of credit (HELOCs) starting from 1 USDC.
  • HOME targets a 7% annual yield, with the target resetting monthly based on the underlying loan portfolio.
  • The U.S. HELOC market reached $460 billion in the second quarter, highlighting the scale of the residential credit market. HOME holders gain exposure to a pooled loan portfolio, rather than direct ownership of individual loans.

NUVA, a real-world asset (RWA) marketplace developed by Animoca Brands and Nuva Labs, has launched HOME, a token designed to give eligible non-U.S. investors exposure to U.S. residential mortgage credit, with investments starting at just 1 USDC.

The HOME token provides exposure to a managed vault initially holding home equity lines of credit (HELOCs) originated through Figure Technology Solutions. NUVA is targeting an annual yield of 7%, with the target resetting monthly based on the underlying loan portfolio.

Interest income and loan performance appear in the vault’s asset value, NAV, which decides the price of HOME. The yield that investors target is not. Investors must still face credit and liquidity risks.

HOME Token Opens Access To A $460 Billion U.S. HELOC Market

HELOCs let home owners take out loans based on the value of their homes using a credit line. These loans usually have interest rates that can change. The amounts owed on HELOCs, in the United States went up to about 460 billion dollars in the quarter. This information comes from Federal Reserve Economic Data.

HOME aims to make it easier for people to get involved in the established credit market using blockchain technology. Of buying individual loans or joining traditional private-credit funds token holders can gain exposure to a collection of loans, through a pooled portfolio.

Anthony Moro, CEO of Nuva Labs, says that current securitization systems have mainly helped investors. This has made it harder for regular individuals to access these investment opportunities.

The launch builds on growing interest in bringing private credit and other real-world assets onchain. Platforms such as Maple Finance and Centrifuge have also developed blockchain-based credit products.

HOME Offers No Lockup But Carries Credit Risks

HOME will be available only to eligible non-U.S. users, with restrictions applying to several jurisdictions, including the U.K., Hong Kong, and China. NUVA plans to enforce eligibility through wallet screening and IP address blocking.

The first portfolio will focus on loans. These loans will have FICO scores of at least 735. The debt-to-income ratios for these loans will be no more than 40%. The combined loan-to-value ratios for these loans will be capped at 69%.

Although HOME has no lockup, withdrawals are expected to take around two U.S. business days. A 5% liquidity reserve is intended to support smaller redemptions, while a separate first-loss allocation of roughly 5% aims to absorb certain losses before they affect token holders.
