Russia’s largest stock exchange Moscow Exchange (MOEX) is planning to launch cryptocurrency trading on December 1, 2026. The exchange is already testing the service with professional traders, according to a report published on October 8.
Boris Blokhin, the exchange’s senior managing director for sales and business development, confirmed the plan. The launch will depend on Russia’s new cryptocurrency rules and the exchange’s preparations. MOEX plans to use its existing trading licence and infrastructure rather than create a separate system for crypto trading.
Blokhin said the exchange would continue testing the service until the planned launch date. The aim is to make sure the system works properly before it becomes available for regular use.

The exchange does not expect to need a separate licence just for cryptocurrency trading. Under the new rules, it can use its existing licence as a trading organizer, along with the infrastructure already used for the stock market. This could make the process simpler for the exchange and its customers.
