Standard Chartered Targets Institutional Crypto Custody Demand
The planned service will operate alongside Standard Chartered’s Financing and Securities Services business, bringing traditional asset servicing, tokenization and digital asset custody under its broader institutional offering.
Patrick Lee, chief executive for Singapore and for ASEAN and South Asia, said Singapore’s established institutional ecosystem and growing demand for trusted digital asset services make it an important market for the bank.
Lee described the initiative as a milestone in the bank’s preparations to deliver custody services to local clients, highlighting the importance of securely holding and servicing tokenized assets at institutional scale.
Ole Matthiessen, global head of transaction services and digital assets, said regulated custody provides a foundation for the digital asset market. He added that Standard Chartered would continue investing in digital asset capabilities across major financial centers.
