  • OKX Money starts with savings, payments and cards in emerging markets.
  • People who qualify can get as much as 10% APY on USDG balances without needing to stake or lock up funds.
  • Customers can add money to their accounts using more than 50 currencies and keep USDG, USDC or USDT.
  • OKX has not said how the 10% stablecoin return is paid for. Stablecoin rules in the US and EU might affect how OKX Money grows and what returns it offers.

Crypto exchange OKX has launched OKX Money, a stablecoin-focused savings and payments app targeting users across parts of Latin America, Africa, South Asia and the Middle East.

The app allows users to fund their accounts with more than 50 currencies, which are converted into dollar-backed stablecoins. Users can then hold USDG, USDC or USDT, send funds to other users and make payments through virtual or physical cards.

Eligible customers can also earn up to 10% annual percentage yield (APY) on qualifying USDG balances. OKX said the reward does not require staking or a fixed lockup period.

The rollout is taking place market by market based on local regulations. An OKX spokesperson told Cointelegraph that the legal entity and regulatory framework supporting the service may vary by jurisdiction. The exchange has not disclosed its specific initial launch markets.

OKX Money Brings Stablecoin Savings & Payments Together

Customers can qualify for higher yield tiers by meeting certain requirements, including maintaining a 30-day average deposit threshold, reaching a specified 30-day spending amount or holding a higher OKX Exchange VIP status. However, OKX has not disclosed how the 10% yield is funded. The spokesperson also declined to comment on the source of the rewards.

The release coincides with stablecoins becoming more popular outside of bitcoin trading. According to Chainalysis, cross-border stablecoin transfers rose 77.5% to $220.3 billion in the 12 months ending in June 2026, indicating a growth in their use for trade, savings, payments, and transfers.

OKX Expands USDG Rewards As Stablecoin Yield Rules Evolve

OKX’s expansion also builds on its relationship with Paxos and the Global Dollar Network. The exchange joined the network in July 2025, giving users access to USDG for trading and transfers.

Stablecoin yield products have previously attracted users with high returns. For example, prior to UST losing its currency peg in May 2022, Anchor Protocol provided yields of up to 20% on TerraUSD.

In contrast to algorithmic stablecoins like UST, USDG, USDC, and USDT, which claim to be backed by reserves, according to their issuers. Participating partners receive a portion of USDG’s reserve revenue via the Global Dollar Network.

Regulation could become an important factor for OKX Money as the service expands. The US GENIUS Act prohibits payment stablecoin issuers from paying interest or yield, while European Union rules under MiCA restrict interest payments on single-currency stablecoins.
