World has launched a standalone prediction-market platform on Solana, opening access to more than one million waitlisted users and expanding its presence beyond the Phantom wallet. The platform offers markets covering sports, crypto, politics, finance, economics and culture, while using Solana for on-chain trading and Chainlink infrastructure for market data and automated settlement.

The launch gives users access to markets covering NFL games, seven soccer leagues, Formula 1, the 2026 US midterm elections and the next Federal Reserve policy decision. World said more than 150,000 markets have already been created through its prediction-market service.

The platform uses simple “yes” and “no” contracts, with prices ranging between $0 and $1. These prices reflect the market’s view of the likelihood of an event occurring. Contracts are settled using CASH, a dollar-backed stablecoin associated with Phantom.

World operates as a non-custodial protocol, with orders sent to liquidity providers on Solana. Users do not need a traditional brokerage account or exchange registration to access the platform, although network fees are still required for Phantom users when opening or closing positions.

The standalone launch follows an earlier integration with Phantom. World had already offered prediction markets through the wallet, with users opening positions through the service since June and the wider Phantom integration becoming available in July.

One of the key features of the new platform is its use of Chainlink Data Streams and the Chainlink Runtime Environment. These systems provide market data and help automate the resolution of prediction markets.

That means the outcome of a market can be determined using predefined data sources rather than relying on a human panel or a vote by token holders. For example, a sports market can be resolved using an official result once a game ends, while markets linked to economic or political events can use specified official data.

The automated approach could also reduce delays in settling markets. Traditional oracle systems can include dispute periods, while automated data feeds can allow an outcome to be determined more quickly once the relevant event has concluded.

The launch adds another retail-focused application to Solana’s growing ecosystem. Solana Foundation executives have described prediction markets as another asset class that can operate on the network, with liquidity remaining on-chain.

World is also planning to expand the range of markets available on the platform. The company has indicated that equity markets could be added following the initial launch, while commodity markets covering gold, silver, oil, natural gas and computing capacity are also planned. Weather prediction markets for major cities are expected later.

The company has not disclosed first-day trading volume, open interest or platform fees, so it is still too early to assess how the new platform will compare with established prediction-market operators.

For now, the launch gives World a much larger potential user base and puts Solana at the centre of another growing blockchain application. With more than one million people already on the waitlist, the next test will be whether that interest translates into sustained trading activity.
