President Donald Trump urged Congress to take the next step and pass the CLARITY Act at a White House meeting with cryptocurrency executives, financial-market leaders and US regulators on Wednesday. Calling for “a fair version” of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, Trump said the legislation could keep the US ahead of China and other countries in financial technology and open the door to a new wave of innovation.

The meeting brought together leaders from Coinbase, Ripple, Chainlink Labs, Gemini, Kraken, Nasdaq, Intercontinental Exchange and other major companies. Trump also linked the bill to his administration’s wider crypto agenda, including the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, the US Digital Asset Stockpile and the GENIUS Act.

Trump said clearer rules would give blockchain and digital-asset companies greater certainty and encourage innovation in the US rather than pushing activity overseas. However, he did not spell out which changes he wanted in what he called a “fair version” of the bill. The legislation remains before Congress and still needs to clear the Senate, where it faces the challenge of securing the 60 votes required for passage.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong backed the legislation, describing it as a bipartisan compromise that could make the administration’s crypto policies durable for decades. He called on politicians and business to work together to complete the measure.

Sergey Nazarov, CEO and co-founder of Chainlink Labs, stated that Trump and his aides met with business executives in the Oval Office to resolve the outstanding concerns. Nazarov stated that the government identified a few concerns and senators whose support would be crucial and thought the measure was feasible.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, Gemini co-founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, Kraken co-CEO Arjun Sethi, Intercontinental Exchange CEO Jeffrey Sprecher, Nasdaq CEO Adena Friedman, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev, Paradigm co-founder Matt Huang, and a16z partner Chris Dixon were among the other prominent figures in the cryptocurrency and financial industries present. BitGo executives were also present.

The meeting also included SEC Chairman Paul Atkins, CFTC Chairman Michael Selig and White House digital-asset adviser Patrick Witt. Atkins said the SEC’s new crypto-assets proposal is aimed at giving digital-asset entrepreneurs and job creators greater certainty but stressed that congressional action on the CLARITY Act remains the key priority.

The timing was significant. The meeting came ahead of the CFTC’s first Innovation Advisory Committee session, which is set to discuss crypto regulation, artificial intelligence and prediction markets. The broader regulatory push also comes as the administration seeks to reverse what Trump described as the previous government’s “war on crypto.”

For the industry, Trump’s support is an important political signal, but it is not yet a legislative breakthrough. Congress must still resolve the bill’s outstanding issues and secure enough votes. With a limited Senate window before another recess, the coming weeks could determine whether the CLARITY Act moves closer to becoming the federal framework the crypto industry has been seeking.
