On August 28, 2026, DeFi Kingdoms, a blockchain game project, will permanently shut down its DFK Chain. The specialized blockchain that has sustained the game’s ecology for years will come to an end with this. The game itself will continue, according to the project, and its infrastructure will be transferred to Avalanche C-Chain. Because certain tokens left on the DFK Chain would be irretrievable after the network is terminated, users have been advised to move qualifying assets before the deadline.

Avalanche and the DeFi Kingdoms team discussed the project’s long-term infrastructure approach over several months. Developers stated that the move will guarantee continuous gaming and assist future development, even if the separate blockchain will be abandoned.

The team clarified that only DeFi Kingdoms-native assets will be transferred in the official migration process. Users holding bridged assets such as JEWEL, BTC, ETH, AVAX, USDC, and other tokens must transfer those assets off DFK Chain themselves before the shutdown. The developers warned that any bridged assets left behind after August 28 cannot be recreated or recovered.

Players were also advised to move assets from smart wallets into standard wallets before bridging and to close all liquidity pool (LP) positions, including pools containing only DeFi Kingdoms-native assets. More detailed migration instructions are expected in the coming weeks.

According to the team, migrating the game’s native assets to Avalanche C-Chain remains its top priority.

Looking ahead, DeFi Kingdoms also revealed plans to launch a software development kit (SDK) that would allow third-party developers to build new applications using the game’s mechanics and digital assets. The team said it is exploring additional long-term opportunities for the ecosystem following the retirement of DFK Chain.

The announcement comes amid a broader trend of crypto infrastructure changes. Recent weeks have seen projects such as Zapper Fi and Ctrl Wallet announce service shutdowns and user migrations. Unlike those platforms, however, DeFi Kingdoms is not ending its game.

It is just replacing its dedicated blockchain with Avalanche C-Chain, allowing the project to continue while simplifying its underlying infrastructure. In view of the August 28 deadline, users are encouraged to complete all required transfers well in advance to avoid losing access to unsupported assets.
