In collaboration with the blockchain company Ripple, Aviva Investors, the global asset management division of Aviva plc, has introduced a tokenized share class of its US Dollar Liquidity Fund. This is the first time Aviva Investors has tokenized one of its funds, and the new share class is accessible on the XRP Ledger.

The fund, which was first introduced in a conventional manner in 2020, invests in high-grade US dollar short-term debt securities, according to the official release. It aims for everyday liquidity and low-risk rewards. In addition to receiving operational advantages made available by blockchain technology, investors in the tokenized version receive the same investment goal, risk profile, liquidity characteristics, and regulatory protections as the traditional fund.

The tokenized share class, which Aviva called a regulatory first for tokenized fund structures, was authorized by the Central Bank of Ireland. The Bank of New York Mellon still has custody of the underlying assets. Licuido will supply the tokenization technology, while Komainu will handle regulated institutional digital asset custody. The new share class is available to qualified investors who have digital wallets.

According to Aviva Investors CEO Mark Versey, the launch is the company’s initial move toward fund tokenization. “Aviva Investors has always placed a high value on innovation, and we think tokenization is a major advancement in the investment sector. We believe that this trend will boost productivity and eventually result in better customer outcomes,” he stated.

He continued by saying that the business intends to investigate other tokenized fund formats and that the collaboration with Ripple was crucial in bringing the idea to market.

“The XRP Ledger was built for exactly this kind of application, and we expect this launch to set a strong precedent for other asset managers,” stated Nigel Khakoo, Senior Vice President of Trading and Markets at Ripple.

Tokenized versions of Aviva Investors’ USD Liquidity Fund are now available to qualified investors on the XRP Ledger. This means they get the operational benefits of blockchain while maintaining the same low-risk investing goal, daily liquidity, risk profile, and complete regulatory safeguards as the conventional share class.

Under the Central Bank of Ireland-approved framework, access is still restricted to qualified investors with suitable digital wallets.

Ripple and Aviva Investors established a collaboration earlier this year in February 2026 with the goal of adding traditional investment funds to the XRP Ledger.

Ripple claims that in order to take use of the ledger’s quick, low-cost transactions, Aviva intended to test tokenized fund structures to speed up procedures and save operating expenses. The company is “thrilled to announce that Ripple is partnering with Aviva Investors to bring traditional fund structures to the XRP Ledger,” according to Ripple executive Reece Merrick on X.
