The Fascinating World Of Augmented Reality

By Vishakha Thakur

Virtual reality (VR) and Augmented reality (AR) are completely changing the way we use screens by creating new and exciting interactive experiences.

While virtual reality allows you to explore an underwater environment, augmented reality allows you to see a fish swimming through the world around you. Virtual reality places you in a computer-generated world that you can explore using a headset. Augmented reality, on the other hand, is somewhat unique as rather than transporting you to a virtual world, it layers digital images on top of the real world around you.

Virtual Reality

Virtual reality immerses you in a virtual world by using a headset with a screen that displays a virtual environment. These headsets also employ head tracking technology, which allows you to look around the environment by physically moving your head. The display will move with you in any direction, giving you a 360-degree view of the virtual environment.

Tech giants like Meta and Apple are in the race to conquer metaverse with their VR Headsets. These devices are expensive as of now. A few popular examples of these include the Oculus Rift by Meta, the Vive, and the PlayStation VR. Apple will soon launch its VR Headset.

Augmented Reality

Augmented Reality enables you to experience the world around you with digital images layered on top of it. Augmented reality can also be used on devices like smartphones and laptops without the use of a headset. There are a variety of apps that use AR, including some that allow you to translate text using your camera, identify stars in the sky, and even see how your garden would look with different plants. The Microsoft HoloLens and the Magic Leap are some AR headsets available. They are currently more expensive than VR headsets and are primarily marketed to businesses.

Both Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality technologies are advancing at a rapid pace. Many experts predict that they will become increasingly popular soon. As technology advances, it will be fascinating to see how it will be applied in both business and everyday life.
