A joint venture between Ripple and Japan’s SBI Holdings, SBI Ripple Asia announced on Tuesday that it has finished its token-issuing platform on the XRP Ledger.
The platform now enables businesses to generate prepaid payment tokens that adhere to Japan’s Payment Services Act, according to the official announcement. The action follows the company’s March 26, 2026, registration as a third-party issuer of prepaid payment instruments.
The platform integrates with existing business applications through APIs, which are tools that let different software programs work together. Companies can integrate the platform with already-existing apps without altering how users interact with them.
In addition, the system lets businesses issue and manage tokens on the XRP Ledger.
These tokens will be accessible to users via apps they are already familiar with. Additionally, the system incorporates unique wallet control technology that aids in the safe management of tokens while adhering to regulations for prepaid payment instruments.
The platform facilitates the issuance of third-party prepaid tokens that adhere to Japanese financial rules, according to SBI Ripple Asia. According to the company, the tokens can be loaded with Japanese yen and used at a variety of stores, including those in tourist destinations and other economic zones. This implies that consumers can receive tokens as rewards for making purchases.
