Authorities from the United States, United Kingdom and Canada have collectively launched Operation Atlantic, a major campaign to tackle crypto-related scams.

The operation focuses on attacks done by way of “approval phishing”, where users are misled into giving access to their crypto wallets through fake apps or messages. After getting access, scammers quickly transfer funds, which are normally impossible to recover.

The amount involved in crypto scams during 2025 was at least $14 billion. Experts believe the number could go even higher. Many scams now use advanced methods like AI-generated content and social engineering.

The new push aims to identify scams in real time, warn users and help secure compromised wallets. It also builds on earlier projects that successfully tracked thousands of fraudulent wallets and thwarted losses of millions of dollars.

Officials say the goal is to impede criminals before they can profit and to protect users from falling victim to these schemes.

This shows growing global cooperation in tackling crypto crime, which continues to evolve rapidly.
