Bitcoin’s network hash rate has returned to normal levels, days after freezing temperatures in the United States put a strain on the country’s electricity grid, resulting in a temporary drop in hash rate.
According to reports, Bitcoin miners in Texas, which accounts for a significant portion of the Country’s hash rate, have voluntarily reduced operations in order to return power to the grid — allowing residents to keep their homes heated.
The disruptions appear to have slowed Bitcoin’s hash rate, which typically ranges between 225 and 300 Exahashes per second (EH/s). On December 25, this fell to 170.60 EH/s.
According to data from hash rate mining calculator CoinWarz, the hash rate has returned to 241.29 EH/s as of December 26.
