Bitget Eyes A Licensed Thai Exchange
Crypto exchange Bitget said on October 20 that it plans to obtain GMO-Z.com Cryptonomics (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a Bangkok-based digital-asset exchange and brokerage, through its interest in BTGT Management (Thailand) Ltd.
The contract would give Bitget access to Thailand’s licensed crypto exchange and brokerage market. It comes less than four weeks after Bitget agonized a security breach involving approximately $387.5 million.
Share Transfer Set For October 31
When the deal closes, GMO Internet and its affiliate GMO-Z.com Holdings (Thailand) and other shareholders will transfer their stakes in Thai company to BTGT Management or another entity.

The transfer of shares is expected to be effective on October 31, 2026, subject to regulatory and other conditions. GMO’s September 24 filing said its two objects held a combined 99.94% stake and would exit the business.
What Bitget Hasn’t Said Yet
Bitget has not unveiled the purchase price, its precise interest in BTGT Management or other financial terms. Regulatory approval is mandatory before Bitget can launch services in Thailand, and no approval or launch date has been announced.
The acquisition could provide a licensed foothold for regional development, but the planned share-transfer date does not itself mean the exchange can instantly begin operating under new ownership.
