Lido announced the expansion on October 7. Eligible clients can stake ETH through BitGo, receive stETH, hold and monitor the token, and redeem it for ETH through the same custody platform.
The move extends BitGo’s existing Lido staking integration, which was first introduced for clients in Europe and Asia in July 2025.
BitGo Brings Lido Staking To U.S. Institutions
Big news for institutions: BitGo Bank & Trust is extending native ETH staking via Lido to its US clients.
Institutions can now stake ETH, hold and redeem stETH, all from the regulated custody platform they already trust.

BitGo confirmed the U.S. expansion in an October 7 post on X, describing the service as native ETH staking through Lido.
The integration allows eligible institutional clients to stake ETH without moving their assets to a separate platform. Once ETH is staked, clients receive stETH and can manage the token through BitGo’s existing custody infrastructure.
The companies have not disclosed how many U.S. clients are eligible for the service or how much ETH could enter the staking program.
U.S. Institutions Can Now Stake ETH & Manage stETH Through BitGo
The expanded service gives eligible U.S. institutional clients several key options:
- Stake ETH through BitGo using Lido.
- Receive and hold stETH.
- Monitor stETH through their existing custody account.
- Redeem stETH for ETH.
The setup is designed to reduce operational friction for institutions that already use BitGo for digital asset custody.
Nathan Stump, Managing Director and Head of Ecosystem Sales at BitGo, said institutional investors want to put digital assets to work without creating unnecessary operational complexity.
Lido Ecosystem Foundation Head of Institutional Relations Kean Gilbert also highlighted the role custodians play in institutional staking strategies. He said a staking strategy depends partly on whether an institution’s custodian supports the required infrastructure.
BitGo Expands Its Institutional Staking Role
The Lido expansion comes shortly after BitGo was added as a custodian for Grayscale’s Hyperliquid Staking ETF.
Grayscale added BitGo Bank & Trust to the custody arrangements for its HYPE-focused investment product on October 6. While that arrangement involves HYPE and Hyperliquid, the Lido integration focuses on ETH and stETH.
Together, the developments highlight BitGo’s growing role in institutional digital asset custody and staking infrastructure.
