Sui Network has recorded 40,614,180 transactions per second (TPS) in a live test at Sui Basecamp in Singapore. The result was more than double Sui’s stated target of 20 million TPS and more than six times its previous record of about 6.1 million TPS set in July.
The test used Sui’s programmable off-chain tunnels, where activity happened away from the main blockchain before being settled on Sui. More than 10,000 tunnels were opened during the demonstration, while independent blockchain security company CertiK is reviewing the test data.
A world record.
40,614,180 transactions per second. Live at Sui Basecamp, independently analyzed by @CertiK.
AI agents paid, played, and chatted in programmable tunnels. Executed offchain, settled on Sui.
Sui is ready for the agentic economy.

The test was conducted on October 7 at the Sui Basecamp event in Singapore, alongside Token2049. It was designed to show how Sui could handle extremely high levels of activity, particularly from AI agents and other applications that may need to make many transactions very quickly.
The important point is that the 40.6 million TPS figure was achieved through Sui tunnels rather than by putting every transaction directly on the main blockchain.
Sui tunnels are programmable off-chain channels. They work in a way that is somewhat similar to payment channels used by other blockchain networks. Users can carry out activity inside a tunnel and settle the final result on the Sui mainnet when the tunnel is closed.
Users and AI agents created tunnels for payments, games, and discussion during the test. Gas costs were not necessary for each individual transaction because the activity was off-chain. On the mainnet, each tunnel merely required transactions to open and close.
This is important because processing every interaction directly on a blockchain could become expensive and difficult when the number of transactions becomes very large.
Sui’s previous record was set on July 4, when its tunnels reached 6,086,766 TPS. The latest result is more than six times higher.
The test was led by Adeniyi Abiodun, chief product officer and co-founder of Mysten Labs, the original contributor to Sui. He said the technology is designed for a future in which large numbers of AI agents may interact and make transactions with each other.
However, the 40.6 million TPS figure is still a test result, not a claim that normal Sui users are currently processing 40 million on-chain transactions every second.
CertiK is independently reviewing the supporting information, including proofs, execution logs and other test data. The company is expected to publish a report after completing its review.
The use of off-chain tunnels is also a key part of understanding the result. Sui itself says the tunnels provide high-speed activity while the final results remain verifiable on the mainnet. The demonstration focused on payments, games and chat, but Sui says developers can use the same technology for other applications.
