- Claude Haiku 5.5 costs about 75% less than Haiku 4.5, starting at $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens for prompts under 100,000 tokens.
- It is the first Haiku model with safeguards for a narrow set of high-risk cybersecurity requests, while everyday business and consumer use is expected to work normally.
- Haiku 5.5 is the third Claude 5.5 model released in the past month, following Claude Opus 5.5.
- The launch comes ahead of Anthropic’s expected mid-November IPO at a valuation of $1.8 trillion to $2 trillion, with marketing potentially starting the week of November 9.
Anthropic, the AI company behind the Claude family of models, has launched Claude Haiku 5.5. The model costs about 75% less than Haiku 4.5 and is built for fast, high-volume work. It is also the first Haiku model with built-in safeguards for a narrow set of high-risk cybersecurity requests. The release comes ahead of Anthropic’s planned November IPO, which is expected to value the company at around $2 trillion.
Haiku 5.5 Is Built For Speed & Scale
Anthropic designed Haiku 5.5 for jobs that need fast answers across a very large number of requests. The company plugs to classification, data extraction, live customer support, voice agents and assistants embedded inside apps.
Pricing is charged per token, the small components of text that AI models read and write. For prompts under 100,000 tokens, Haiku 5.5 charges $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens. Longer prompts are valued at $0.50 for input and $2.50 for output.
Introducing Claude Haiku 5.5: the cheapest, fastest, and most capable small model we’ve ever released.
On average, it costs around 75% less to run than Claude Haiku 4.5. https://t.co/jm06cZJfkV

The launch follows Anthropic’s recent release of Claude Opus 5.5, which came with lower running costs. Haiku 5.5 is the third Claude 5.5 model to arrive in the past month. It also lands while OpenAI and Google participate with Anthropic on model speed, capability and developer adoption.
New Cybersecurity Safeguards Debut In The Haiku Line
Anthropic said Haiku 5.5 includes controls aimed at requests that could support harmful cyber activity. Only a narrow range of high-risk requests is covered, and ordinary business and consumer tasks are expected to run as normal.
Haiku 5.5 is now available in the Claude Platform and Claude Code. On average, it costs around 75% less to run than Haiku 4.5.
It pairs well with Opus 5.5 or Sonnet 5.5 as a subagent. Use it for high-volume, cost-sensitive tasks like summaries, compactions, or database queries. https://t.co/RB9xCWo4Db

The timing reflects how smaller models are being used. They often sit inside automated tools for customer support and software systems, handling repeated tasks that don’t need a larger reasoning model. For developers building assistants and automated workflows, Haiku 5.5 adds another option to Anthropic’s lineup.
The Launch Comes Ahead Of Anthropic’s November IPO
Anthropic is preparing to go public in November, and the offering could value the company at about $2 trillion. It has been widening its model range as that process approaches.
Earlier reports said the listing is expected in mid-November. Formal IPO marketing could begin in the week of November 9, and the offering could happen before Thanksgiving. The expected valuation range is $1.8 trillion to $2 trillion. These details are expectations, not confirmed dates.
Anthropic is heading into the process after rapid revenue growth and heavy spending on computing infrastructure. Building and running advanced AI models requires ongoing investment in chips, cloud capacity and data centers.
Amodei Called For Slower Pace On Frontier Models
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei recently urged AI companies to slow the development of more powerful models until stronger safety systems are in place. He has also pushed for independent safety testing, coordination among major AI developers and closer cooperation with governments.
