Eric Trump, co-founder of American Bitcoin, says the company mines between 11 and 13 Bitcoin each day with gross margins around 49%. On the Wolf Financial podcast, he said this output shows how efficient their mining operation is, with nearly 90,000 miners in use. Trump also said American Bitcoin’s treasury has grown to about 8,300 BTC. Although the business mined a record 932 BTC in the second quarter, the true cost of making each Bitcoin is still up for debate.

In 2025, Eric and Donald Trump Jr. introduced American Bitcoin. The company became public in September 2025 following its merger with Gryphon Digital Mining, and it is presently traded on the Nasdaq under the ticker ABTC. Hut 8, which supported the company early on, is still the majority owner.

Because American Bitcoin’s objective is to increase its holdings via mining Bitcoin rather than purchasing it on the market, these production figures are significant. The company’s greatest quarterly total to date, 932 BTC, was mined in the second quarter of 2026. The quarter’s gross margin was around 49%, which is consistent with the amount Trump said on the podcast.

Trump said the company’s Bitcoin holdings grew to about 8,300 BTC by late August, up from around 5,401 BTC at the end of 2025. At a Bitcoin price of about $77,696, this reserve would be worth over $600 million.

American Bitcoin claims that it has no plans to sell the Bitcoin that it has mined. The company claims that mining Bitcoin might be less expensive than buying it on the open market. But it’s not as simple as it seems.

The true cost of producing each American Bitcoin currency is a hotly debated topic. According to a Forbes estimate, the total cost may be closer to $90,000 per coin, despite Trump’s frequent statements that each Bitcoin costs only $57,000.

This distinction is noteworthy. If the $57,000 cost is accurate, the corporation would make a healthy profit if Bitcoin prices were close to $77,500. However, the business can lose money on each Bitcoin it mines if the true cost is more like $90,000.

The larger estimate has been described by Trump as politically driven. So far, there has not been a detailed public breakdown to settle the difference between the two figures.

This makes the question of production cost central to American Bitcoin’s investment case. The company’s growing Bitcoin reserves and high output are impressive, but investors need to know the real cost of producing each coin.

For now, American Bitcoin is counting on its size, efficient mining, and steady Bitcoin accumulation to give it an edge. Whether this strategy works will depend on both Bitcoin’s price and the company’s actual costs.
