  • In Q2 2026, Coinbase Ethereum validators outperformed the network average of 99.76% with an uptime of 99.97%.
  • Ethereum’s network average is 2.80%, whereas Coinbase validators produced 2.87% APY.
  • The average amount of ETH placed on Coinbase was 4.76 million, or 12.16% of all ETH staked.
  • Since starting its validator operations, the exchange has reported zero instances of cutting or double-signing.

Coinbase Ethereum validators did a job in the second quarter of 2026. They were up. Running 99.97 percent of the time. This is better than the average for the Ethereum network which was 99.76 percent. Coinbase says that its focus on making sure its systems are strong and reliable helped it do better than the rest of the network.

The report from Coinbase about its Ethereum validators for the quarter says that the validators it operates made an average of 2.87 percent APY. This is a little better than the average for the Ethereum network which was 2.80 percent.

Coinbase had an average of 4.76 million Ethereum staked through its validators during the quarter. This is 12.16 percent of all the Ethereum that is staked. Coinbase Ethereum validators also did not have any problems, like slashing or double-signing since they started operating.

Ethereum Validator Performance Remains Strong

Coinbase said its validators outperformed the Ethereum network across key consensus activities. Attestation participation and block proposal performance were both 21 basis points above network averages, while sync committee participation was 37 basis points higher.

The company also highlighted the role of execution-layer rewards, including priority fees and maximum extractable value (MEV), in determining overall validator rewards.

In an effort to reduce concentration issues, Coinbase has pledged to maintain its Ethereum validator holding below 30% of the network.

Coinbase Focuses on Infrastructure Diversification

Using several availability zones in each location, Coinbase runs Ethereum validators in Singapore, Japan, Ireland, and the Netherlands. Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services (AWS) share their infrastructure.

The exchange also operates two Ethereum consensus clients, Lighthouse and Prysm, along with three execution clients: Nethermind, Reth and Geth. This multi-client strategy is designed to reduce the potential impact of software bugs or technical failures affecting a single client.

Coinbase also connects its validators to seven MEV relays, including Flashbots, bloXroute and other major relay providers.

Coinbase Prepares for Ethereum’s Glamsterdam Upgrade

Coinbase is preparing its validator infrastructure for Ethereum’s Glamsterdam upgrade, expected in the second half of 2026. The upgrade could introduce changes involving proposer-builder separation, block-level access lists and standardized ETH transfer logs. The exchange said it is monitoring Ethereum’s test networks and adapting its infrastructure ahead of the upgrade.
