Despite reporting a $541 million net loss, SpaceX reported stronger-than-expected second-quarter revenue, in part because of a drop in the value of its bitcoin holdings. In order to fuel its proposed Starmind satellite network, Elon Musk’s space firm announced a new AI collaboration with NVIDIA at the same time. Shares of both firms increased during Tuesday’s trading session as a result of the twin reports, which increased investor confidence.

SpaceX easily above Wall Street’s expectation of $6.9 billion with its second-quarter sales of $7.8 billion. Additionally, the company’s adjusted EBITDA nearly quadrupled to $3.5 billion, demonstrating ongoing growth across its launch services, Starlink internet business, and AI projects, while its quarterly loss decreased to $541 million from $1 billion a year earlier.

Throughout the quarter, the company’s bitcoin holdings remained at 18,712. But by of June 30, the value of their holdings had decreased from $1.64 billion at the end of 2025 to $1.10 billion. Rather than any sales of the company’s cryptocurrency holdings, the reduction was caused by the roughly 33% drop in the price of bitcoin during that time.

Spending $18.4 billion on capital expenditures throughout the quarter, SpaceX also made significant investments in future expansion. The company’s long-term goals increasingly depend on the expansion of its artificial intelligence infrastructure, which is the focus of a large portion of that investment.

In keeping with that plan, SpaceX has teamed up with NVIDIA to supply processing power for its planned Starmind AI satellite network. The proposed orbital computing infrastructure will run AI-powered data centers in space using NVIDIA’s most recent Vera CPUs and Rubin GPUs. Commercial sales are anticipated to start later this year, and NVIDIA claims that its Space-1 Vera Rubin Module may provide up to 25 times the AI processing capability of an H100 GPU.

It’s interesting to note that when NVIDIA unveiled their space computing platform in March, it listed six launch partners, but SpaceX was not one of them. As NVIDIA increases its goals in space-based AI infrastructure, the corporation has now been added to the expanding list.

In order to install up to one million orbiting data-center satellites linked by a petabit-scale laser communication network, SpaceX also applied for permission from the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) earlier this year. If accepted, the plan would represent one of the most massive space computing initiatives ever tried and well surpass the approximately 15,000 satellites now in orbit above the planet.

Both announcements were well received by investors. While SpaceX stock surged over 9% during normal trading before declining in after-hours trading after the news release, NVIDIA shares increased by more than 3%. With around 912 million shares held by staff members and early investors being up for sale on August 6, the business is also getting close to another crucial milestone that may greatly raise the stock’s public float.
