The majority of employees work in small to medium-sized businesses, with larger corporations employing a sizable portion of the total workforce. The vast majority of large corporations use remote work models and maintain a physical presence in jurisdictions with crypto-friendly policies.
About 30% of crypto employees live in the US, with Africa and Southeast Asia emerging as hubs. Major US West and East Coast hubs have established crypto firms there. Around 20% of the workforce works on blockchain projects, with 62,000 employees in cryptocurrency exchanges and brokerages and 48,500 in crypto financial services.
Crypto adoption has led to a rise in headcount, with Asia and Australia leading with 262 million owners, followed by the US with 54 million. India and China dominate crypto employment in Asia, with top employers Binance, OKX, and Crypto.com. This growth is driven by exchanges and companies expanding operations in new regions.
