UK To Host International Summit On Safe AI Development
The government announced that Britain will host a two-day international summit in November to discuss how artificial intelligence can be developed safely.
On November 1-2, a “world first” gathering will take place at Bletchley Park, the site of the famous British codebreakers who broke the “Enigma” code used by Nazi Germany, hastening the end of World War II.
The National Museum of Computing, which houses the largest collection of operational vintage computers in the world, is also located there.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced a summit to address the risks of artificial intelligence without regulation. The event comes as experts warn of the dangers of unregulated technology. Sunak called AI “the defining technology of our time” and called for a future global AI regulator based in London. OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT, is set to open its first office outside the US in London, a vote of confidence for Britain as an AI powerhouse. Sunak seeks a place at the table as the US and EU seek an AI code of conduct.
