T-Mobile Owner Will Be Mining Bitcoin

T-Mobile and Deutsche Telecom have launched a competition for the best Public Blockchain Protocol solutions for web3.

The six winners were awarded $100,000 each for their solutions that leveraged 5G to bring Web3 to life. T-Mobile’s web3 efforts have led to suggestions for decentralizing carrier subscriber identification with blockchain tools to prevent SIM swap or port-out fraud.

Deutsche Telecom, T-Mobile’s owner, has announced that it will begin actively mining Bitcoin. T-Mobile has been running Bitcoin and Lightning network nodes for some time, and Dirk Röder, head of web3 infrastructure and solutions at T-Mobile, confirmed that they will engage in digital monetary photosynthesis soon.
