Faruk Fatih Ozer, founder of collapsed Turkish exchange Thodex, was found dead in his prison cell while serving an 11,196-year sentence for fraud and money laundering. Authorities said Ozer was discovered hanging in his bathroom, with suicide cited as the likely cause.
His death closes one of Türkiye’s biggest crypto scandals, which involved the loss of ₺356 million ($12.5 million) in investor funds.
Ozer’s siblings, Guven and Serap Ozer, were also convicted. The incident underscores Turkey’s continued crackdown on crypto-related financial crimes.
