Starknet Plans ‘Parallel Execution’ To Mimic Solana’s Speed Feature
Starknet, the Ethereum layer-2 network, is set to introduce a design feature called “parallelization” as part of an upgrade set for the second quarter.
This feature aims to process a greater number of transactions simultaneously, resulting in improved throughput and faster L2 finality. Starknet’s sequencer will be receiving parallel execution, which is a multitasking for rollups.
Starknet is the sixth-biggest layer-2 network, with a total value locked (TVL) of $1.4 billion, behind Arbitrum One and OP Mainnet. The network is the largest among the “ZK Rollups” class of layer 2s, designed for faster settlements based on zero-knowledge cryptography.
Additional efforts this year include fee-reduction measures, including the “Volition” project for data availability and “DA compression” that will reduce Starknet’s data footprint on L1, resulting in lower fees for end users. This is part of the 2024 road map released Wednesday.
